The summer racing season is littered with 5Ks, 10Ks, and longer distances that actually require training. We won’t worry about those longer races for people who are certifiable but will stick with the races that are fun and anyone can do (even if you just walk). Once the winter hits, the weekly neighborhood 5Ks disappear and people start to hunker down for the winter. HOWEVER, intrepid runners and walkers will find creative races held in the winter where you get a heartier entrant who isn’t beyond racing in snow pants and/or snowshoes. Even if you hate winter, here are a couple of events with various locations nationwide that you should bundle up, get off the couch, and participate in:
Run. Drink hot chocolate. Repeat. Locations in 13 different cities.
Here’s what you get with this run:
Run, Santa, Run. How better to train for the holidays then by running dressed like Santa? Locations in 7 different cities.
Every runner gets:
- Santa beard
- Santa hat
- Long sleeve dri-fit zip shirt
- Candy, cookies, and Christmas music en route!
